Norton Simon Museum

One of the biggest and most well-known exhibits in Pasadena, the Norton Simon Museum is a must-see for those visiting the area. Here you’ll discover a huge range of local and exotic art, some of which dates back thousands of years.

The museum was originally established in 1922 as the Pasadena Art Institute, a local accommodation designed to promote art in the local community. In 1974 Simon Norton assumed leadership of the institution and made significant donations that greatly increased the size of the museum’s collection. Today there are over 15,000 works of art spanning 2,000 years of history on display.

The collection includes a vast amount of European and Asian art, with paintings and sculptures featured throughout the building’s spacious interior. There are also pieces on display from famed artists including Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and Picasso.

Want something the kids will enjoy? The Southern California Children’s Museum (or SCCM) is tailor-made for young children. Here you’ll find hands-on exhibits and hours of activities designed to foster excitement and spark a real sense of wonder in your little ones.

The museum was founded in 2009 by educators, parents, and community leaders who wanted a dedicated space where children aged 0-8 could learn and play while exploring art and creative expression. It has been a huge hit ever since.

The museum features a wide array of themes including science, art, music, culture, inclusion, and more. There are also regular events and classes designed to foster a love of learning. Be sure to check their calendar in advance to find out what’s going on during your stay.

The Bunny Museum

The most unique location on our list (and our favorite), is the Bunny Museum. This quirky establishment is packed with stuffed bunnies of all shapes and sizes and has been putting smiles on people’s faces since 1998.

The now-iconic location has more than 45,000 bunnies and bunny-themed objects on display and has attracted quite a following over the years. You’ll find mention of the Bunny Museum in the Guinness Book of World Records, Ripley’s Believe-it-or-Not, and the Smithsonian Magazine.

The exhibition is set up ‘salon-style,’ where the collection is displayed from the floor all the way to the ceiling. A truly bizarre, but no less adorable experience, the Bunny museum is a treat for people of all ages.
